Delhi University has several hostels for its students, both for men and women. These hostels provide accommodation to students who come from different parts of the country to pursue their education at Delhi University.

Qualifications for entry into the Delhi University Hostel:

Candidates meeting the following eligibility requirements will be taken into consideration for admission:

  • The applicant must be enrolled as a normal Postgraduate student in a University Department, Center, or Faculty.
  • The candidate’s parents shouldn’t live in the NCT (National Capital Territory).
  • The candidate should not be working full-time, part-time, irregularly, or temporarily somewhere.
  • All of the chosen out-of-town applicants may not be able to acquire hostel housing due to the large number of students applying. Therefore, the applicants must be aware that acceptance into a program does not guarantee the allocation of dorm space. Accommodation will be provided to qualified candidates based on their merit and the availability of a hostel bed. A student who is admitted to a hostel is permitted to stay there until the final test date for the specific degree they are pursuing.
  • If admittance to a program is determined by a written exam, merit list, or interview in the faculty, department, or center, the prepared merit is used for hostel admission.
  • Other than the aforementioned, no other criteria or factor is given any weight.

Every hostel has an admissions committee, which is made up of the resident tutors, the provost, and the warden. Admission to the hostel is solely determined by the merit list supplied by the relevant faculty or department and the admission committee’s established policy. On the basis of the merit list, the candidates are initially shortlisted. The candidates on the shortlist are interviewed by the hostel admissions committee, and the chosen individuals are admitted. Reservations are available in accordance with university regulations.
